Types of comments and moderation tips for your blog

With the first comments on our blog comes a bit of pride (at least in my case) in having contributed something that has created value for readers. Over time we see that not all comments are positive. The question now is how we react when we are attacked, criticized or rumors are created about people outside who cannot defend themselves directly. Here are my tips for moderating blog comments:

How to respond to comments on a blog

Positive comments: be humble when your readers take the time to comment. The least you can do is say thank you.

Consultation comments: I try to respond to all comments. Although I cannot deal with everything in detail, I try to respond with some ideas and recommendations.

Comments that contradict you: use these comments to encourage a conversation. You may be wrong with things you are saying. Admit it and correct it if that is the case.

Comments that criticize and attack you: my personal policy is to publish. So far no one has insulted me. I publish the comment but I do not respond to unjustified criticism. If the criticism is justified, I take advantage of the situation to express my point of view.

Comments from trolls that provoke australia phone number library you: I usually publish most of the comments. I would not respond to this type of comments so as not to give more encouragement to the trolls.

Comments that insult and provoke you

As I said, I have not received any insulting comments so far (everything will come). I would not publish them because I think it is disrespectful mastodon social network: install a server with your own rules and it is not how two adults should communicate.

Comments about third parties: my asia email list advice is not to leave a comment that creates a rumor about another person without a response. Even if we do not have the answer, it is good to highlight that it is a rumor or that what the person has commented remains to be verified.

Self-promotional comments: I publish all comments that add value by promoting the blog itself. I delete comments such as “Good post, here is the link to my website.”
